In 2014, Rhodes Precast Concrete Ltd started the manufacturing of reinforced concrete structures. Their products were used in a project focused on the rebuilding of Iraq’s infrastructure, including the construction of 300 schools. As the plant was located in Jordan, the reinforced concrete manufacturer faced with the problem of significant concrete structural materials damage (sandwich panels, floor slabs, beams, stairways) during transportation. Another problem is the high-temperature patterns typical for the Middle East region, which contribute to the cracking.
After online and in-person consultations with our specialists, it was decided to use basalt fiber with T10 sizing type, which we recommend for concrete reinforcing. The length of the fiber, which was suitable for this case was 24 mm.
Therefore, the solution of the existing problems was to use basalt chopped fiber RBR-18-T10/24.
Having determined the correct dosage, the precast producer has solved the following tasks:
– prevented the damage to products during transportation (increased impact resistance and as a result decreased the number of chops occurred during transportation);
– prevented the cracking on the surface of finished products at the stage of concrete maturation;
– increased the strength of concrete;- increased the production capacity of the plant because of faster concrete maturation.
