Basalt Fiber

Basalt is a unique material that transfers the power of nature to new technologies!

Basalt fiber is a piece of complex basalt fiber of fixed length. Depending on the customer’s requirements, basalt fiber can be supplied both in the form of crumbly monofilaments, and in the form of pieces of complex basalt fibers glued together.

Fiber marking:

Technobasalt® Fiber RBR-18-T10/12 (1%)

where

RBR — chopped basalt roving;

18 — diameter of the monofilament (μm);

Т10 — type of lubricant;

12 — monofilament’s length (mm);

(1%) — fiber moisture.

The fiber is manufactured in the following size ranges:

  • by the diameter of the monofilament: 9/13/16 microns;
  • by the length of the chopped segment: 5, 12, 24, 36, 50, 60 and 100 mm.

Basalt fiber is supplied in lubricants with moisture content up to 1% and up to 12%.

Different types of lubricants (reagents) are used depending on the intended sphere of fiber application.

    The filaments diameter  is regulated by GOST 6943.2-79.

    Fiber length is controlled according to DSTU GOST 427-2009.

    The moisture content of the fiber is regulated by GOST 6943.8-79.

    The lubricant is a technological oily liquid used in the production of basalt fiber.

    The type of lubricant is selected for the specific customer’s needs (for reinforcement of concrete, asphalt, gypsum, plastic, etc.) and is regulated by GOST 6943.8-79.

    Basalt fiber Technobasalt® is manufactured in full compliance with TU U V.2.7-26.8-34323267-002: 2009.

    The company applies a management system in accordance with ISO 9001: 2015.

    Basalt fiber is an effective reinforcing additive

    Improves the strength characteristics of concrete products:

    • increases the resistance of concrete to dynamic pressure (the resistance to splitting and impact increases up to 5 times);
    • increases concrete bending strength up to 40-60%;
    • increases resistance to abrasion of concrete structures by 10-60%;
    • increases the fire resistance of concrete structures;
    • significantly increases the chemical resistance of reinforced concrete to aggressive substances;
    • increases the frost resistance of concrete;
    • reduces cracking during concrete hardening;
    • excludes delamination of the concrete mix..

    Has a direct economic effect:

    • allows you to reduce the size of the concrete structure while maintaining the strength properties;

    • reduces labor costs for reinforcement work and the reinforcement itself if the project allows you to replace steel reinforcement with basalt fiber.

    Provides long-term economic benefits:

    • increases the durability of structures and, as a result, reduces operating costs.
    Important

    Basalt fiber:
    uncopyable competitive advantages

    We believe that in most cases, basalt fiber has a number of advantages over other fiber types: steel, fiberglass, polypropylene, etc. Follow the link and find out why we think so…

    Basalt fiber provides short and long term economic benefits

    Basalt fiber makes concrete up to 55% stronger, which allows to:

    a) increase the durability of the structure and, as a result, reduce operating costs;

    b) obtain a short-term economic effect by:

    • reducing the thickness of the concrete layer,
    • increasing the size of the reinforcement mesh,
    • reducing the diameter of the rebar,
    • rejection of reinforcement, both of one of the layers, or completely, which will further reduce the cost of work.

    Basalt fiber is stronger than steel and other substitutes

    The tensile strength of basalt thread is higher than that of steel, fiberglass and polypropylene. In addition, it is important to remember that the onset of basalt fiber permanent deformation begins much later than that of steel, and even more so for polypropylene, which indicates a much wider range of performance characteristics of basalt.

    1 kg of basalt fiber equals to over 74 million points of reinforcement!

    Basalt fiber has high corrosion resistance

    In some cases, it is possible to completely or partially replace steel reinforcing materials with basalt ones, which will significantly increase the resistance of concrete structures to aggressive media, such as sea water, chemicals, microorganisms, etc.

    Basalt fiber ensures a homogeneous mass

    Steel fiber settles in the concrete mass, polypropylene fiber floats to the top, and basalt fiber remains evenly distributed throughout the volume, keeping 3D reinforcement at the micro level.
